This modern, quality silver-plated wall crucifix is hand painted on a solid wood base, beautifully done with ornate gold and silver accents. There is a choice of stones. This crucifix comes with red, green, blue hand-polished quartz or blue turqouise. This crucifix is based on Giotto's Crucifix, painted for the Dominican Convent of Santa Maria Novella (Saint Mary the New), deeply changes the style and iconography of the Italian painting, representing Christ on the Cross as a completely natural and human character. Therefore it is both a document of Giotto's artistic and expressive revolution, and a "manifesto" of the new religiosity proposed by the Dominicans. The elements of this new language are the natural and three-dimensional structure of the big body, so heavy that the arms are pulled downward, the curled hands in their powerful perspective vision, and the realistic human expression of Christ's pain.
